The range is 0 to 20 per cent with accuracy of 0.1 at 5 per cent, monitored constantly by dual-beam infrared sensing, which is the more stable sensor type for this application. Temperature and CO2 are digitally adjustable and displayed in real time, a Cal function allows calibration of both, and audible and visual alarms trigger on a drop in either. Humidity up to 80 per cent is added by inserting the supplied stainless-steel reservoir.
Two practical points. The thick insulation allows the unit to hold temperature within 10 per cent of the set parameter for up to an hour after power is lost, which protects a culture through a short outage. And a 12 V DC vehicle adapter is supplied for mobile operation, which is unusual and makes field or transport use possible.
The important purchasing note is that a CO2 tank and regulator are needed but not included. Budget for both, and for the gas supply arrangements: a compressed CO2 cylinder must be secured upright against falling and fitted with the correct regulator, and a CO2 enrichment leak in a small or unventilated room is an asphyxiation hazard. Confirm cylinder, regulator, tubing and mounting with your supplier as part of the order.
